Packaged transformer substation with a diesel generator set is a modular transformer substation combined with a DG delivered ready-to-operate. These packaged transformer substations are designed for the electric power supply of a special group of consumers of the 1st category of power supply reliability.
Packaged transformer substations with a diesel generator set (PTS with DG) are designed to receive, transform, and distribute electrical power of three-phase alternating current in the networks with an isolated or compensated neutral on the 6(10) kV side and a dead-earthed neutral on the 0,4 kV side. The power supply of consumers with electricity 0,4 kV from the diesel generator set occurs in the event of a power outage from the 6(10) kV network. The placement of equipment in a single building and the short length of cable routes are the advantages of this solution.

Packaged transformer substation with a DG is a reinforced concrete module consisting of two parts. Lower modules are a solid mold with even surfaces 1900 mm high designed to accommodate load from upper modules, cable allocation and oil headers. Upper modules are a solid mold with even surfaces 2600 mm high designed for housing transformers, higher-voltage switchgears and lower-voltage switchgears.
A module where the DG is placed is equipped with air valves, an exhaust system is assembled in the cover, flanges for fueling are mounted in the wall. The upper modules are installed on lower modules at the assembling site.
The elements of reinforced concrete bearing frames and metal coverings of the roof have a rigid connection with an internal grounding circuit made of strip steel of 160 mm² section. The transformer neutral is connected to the grounding circuit with strip steel of 160 mm² section.
As a packaged switchgear, on the HV side, prefabricated one-sided maintenance chambers or gas-insulated monoblocks can be used - a small-sized switchgear of RM6 type for 2, 3 or 4 connections, as well as separate RM6 Schneider Electric cells.
A complete containerized transformer substation with DG is used with power transformers – for example, TMG11 (100-630 kVA voltage) and TMG12 (250-630 kVA) produced by Kozlov Minsk Electrotechnical Plant.
Low-voltage input switching devices are 2 or more panels rigidly attached, designed to accommodate the bus lines and automatic switches or fuse-switch-disconnectors. The low-voltage switchgear includes ISERE cut-in load break switches and PE series disconnectors to create a visible break in circuits when repairing equipment. To meet the own needs of the packaged transformer substation premises with DG, the installation of an auxiliaries board is provided.
Packaged transformer substations with DG can be equipped with an automatic standby infeed device, which can be installed both on the low voltage side and on the high voltage side (HV switchgear, type RM6). The ATS operation algorithm is monitoring the presence of voltage on the transformer up to the input circuit breaker and giving a command to start the DG in the event of a power failure at the input from the transformer for a time exceeding the set value.
