Installing a diesel genset, pre-commissioning and connecting an automatic circuit breaker for Pokrov hospital in Saint Petersburg

To provide a standby power supply, in summer 2018, Techexpo connected a diesel genset based on a 500 kVA DOOSAN engine in automatic mode to the building of ‘Pokrov City Hospital’ Saint Petersburg public health facility.

In 14 days, our specialists carried out construction, installation, and electrical mounting works to install cables on the front and inside the building, install the gas exhaust system and connect the ATS board.

Work performed in detail:

• Checking the electric circuit diagrams.
• Connecting the diesel genset ATS control circuit based on Siemens LOGO controllers, to 0.4 kV switchgear cross-connect equipment, as well as diesel genset ATS system programming and commissioning.
• Electrical and mechanical locking preventing two simultaneous infeed in the ATS board.
• Disconnect and section switches status indication.
• ATS control circuit power protection by the automatic switch of secondary circuits between switchovers. Displaying information on the emergency situation of ATS program execution.
• System commissioning
• Field acceptance measuring and system actuation testing. Measuring and testing results were entered in protocols comprising a technical report.

We also trained the staff to operate the ATS system, provided the customer with test protocols with the certificate of electrical laboratory registration in the North-West Administration of the Russian Technical Supervision Service.

The 36-month guarantee covers all works performed.

Pre-commissioning activities for manufacturing equipment and cable lines included:

• Measuring the insulation resistance of wiring, cable lines, electrical facilities, grounding devices.
• Checking the availability of a circuit between the grounded units and the grounded unit components.
• Checking the zero phase circuit.
• Checking the function of automatic circuit breakers.
• Equipment voltage proof test.
• Testing cable lines.

The result of our work

The installed equipment provided:

- uninterrupted operation of 0,4 kV switchgear and a transformer substation by automatic transfer from the transfer switch and diesel genset ATS;

- transfer parameters check: peak stress, phase loss, phase sequence. When the mains voltage is lost, ATS automatically switches over;

- a delay is adjusted to protect the load and ATS system against false response in the cases of short voltage slumps;

- indication of both power sources voltage availability is displayed, as well as indication of activated power source showing the powering source.
