Three 880 kW DGs for El-Dabaa APP construction in Egypt

In May 2022, Techexpo company delivered three encased gensets of a total power of 880 kW to Egypt for El-Dabaa Atomic Power Plant construction.

El-Dabaa Atomic Power Plant is the 1^st atomic power in Egypt, which will be built according to the Rosatom project in the city of El-Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast, 300 km northwest of Cairo. The nuclear power plant will consist of 4 power units with a capacity of 1200 MW each with reactors of the VVER-1200 type (water-cooled power reactor) of 3+ generation.

Two SDMO D330 DGs, brand TE.240С-Т400-2RP, (240 kW each) and SDMO D550 DG, brand TE.400С-Т400-2RP (400 kW) are designed for main or backup power supply during the construction of the El-Dabaa NPP.

• 2 units. DG SDMO D330 brand ТE.240С-Т400-2RP (power 240 kW) is based on a Doosan P126TI-II diesel engine and a Kohler KH0172OT generator. A 400-liter tank is inbuilt in the DG frame. The dimensions of the encased genset — 4475х1410x2430 mm.
• 1 unit. DG SDMO D550 brand ТE.400С-Т400-2RP (power  400 kW) is based on a Doosan DP158LDF engine and a Kohler KH01982T generator. A 500-liter tank is inbuilt into the DG frame. The dimensions of the encased genset — 5031х1560x2435 mm.

Every DG includes the next equipment:

• diesel generator;
• sound-proof case;
• gas exhaust system;
• fuel and oil pumping system;
• system for draining coolant, oil, fuel;
• automatic control system for the genset and automatic load-switching devices;
• electrical safety equipment;
• circuit breaker;
• automatic transfer switch - ATS;
• grounding kit for mobile electric units;

APM303 for the 240 kW DG and APM403 for the 400 kW DG are used as control units. It provides the start and stop of the DG, and control of main safety devices. Climatic version and operating conditions according to GOST 15150-69 — TV2/ОJ2 — for a macroclimatic area with a humid tropical climate.
