Three UPSs, switchgears, pre-commissioning and integration of the DG with switchgear for a hospital in Saint Petersburg

In August 2022, Techexpo company delivered three UPSs and switchgear, as well as integrated the DGs with the switchgear, carried out commissioning work for the power supply package of the backup power supply system of an under-construction multidisciplinary clinic in St. Petersburg.

The future 4,2 MW diesel power supply package for the hospital consists of 7 containerized DG 600 kW each, a room with switchboard equipment and operator's workplace, UPS set, underground tanks of fuel-receiving devices.

Currently, during the construction of the 1st stage, 3 DGs out of 7 are installed. The goal of our company:

  • organizing a room with the switchboard equipment of the power supply package, the operator's room
  • connecting the existing DGs to switchboards, configuring their parallel operation
  • delivering and connecting three sets of UPS with batteries to the power supply system.

Techexpo company delivered 3 sets of highly-reliable three-phase modular UPSs based on a HIDEN HEM0300/50X power cabinet with six HEPM50X power modules and BB UPS 12620W 155 Ah accumulator batteries, 240 pcs. The total power of the UPSs is 750 kVA, they provide 15 minutes of battery life. The UPS and racks with automatic transmissions were installed in the main switchboard room of the 5th building. Two UPSs work in parallel. Medical equipment is extremely sensitive to voltage variations and power quality. To ensure that the equipment does not fail and remains operational during power outages, UPSs are used. When the power fails, the UPSs are the first to come into operation, they feed an impulse to the power supply package - the DG starts up. At the moment of switching to an emergency power supply, there are no power surges and power quality is maintained.

Techexpo manufactured a composite heat-insulated module block of a switchboard and an operator's room - two modules with dimensions of 8000x2400x3000 mm.

The module with RSC-DG equipment consists of 12 panels of relay cabinet-DG, an auxiliaries board for three DGs, a fuel panel. Distribution power board (panel assembly of 12 panels) consisting of: DG4 input, DG5 input, DG 1 input, DG2, DG3 input, DG6, DG7 input, Outgoing line of the main switchboard 1.2, Outgoing line of the main switchboard 1.4, Outgoing line of the main switchboard 3.2, Outgoing line of the main switchboard 4.2, Outgoing line of the main switchboard 5.2, Outgoing line of the main switchboard 6.2, Panel 8 of DG switchboard.

The second module is an operator's room for control and management of the power supply package and a utility room.

Two modules with dimensions of 8000x2400x3000 mm are hermetically connected. The strength of the structure is additionally reinforced by the rigidity of the corrugated sheets of the outer skin, roof and floor. Insulation - mineral wool 100 mm thick. The block module provides window and door openings, ventilation and vapor barrier system. A gas fire extinguishing system is installed. In the design of containers, a raised floor is installed with cable routing to connect the DG to the switchgear. The finished module is installed on a concrete foundation and connected to the container units of the diesel gensets.

Techexpo technicians performed installation and commissioning to connect and configure the supplied equipment:

  • installing the fuel system (installation and piping of fuel lines and emergency drain).
  • installing instrumentation for fuel tanks.
  • installing protective devices for the tanks.
  • installing and assembling diesel gensets - 3 pcs., switchboard RSC-DG, auxiliary room in the block-modular design.
  • installing the power supply system for three diesel gensets (synchronization system, power panels, diesel genset auxiliary needs, load control system, cable routes (internal).
  • installing the raised floor of the diesel genset.
  • installing outdoor lighting with a lighting control unit.
  • installing the main ground bus, potential equalization system.
  • installing an external earthing loop.
  • installing and connecting three sets of UPS with a battery to the main switchboard of the 5th building
