Modernizing diesel gensets for Rosseti: replacing an old USSR diesel genset in the city of Menzen, Arkhangelsk region. |
| Solution |
In 2020, the Techexpo construction unit won the tender based on 223-FZ for the technical upgrading of a high-voltage diesel genset relating to the replacement of two 1 MW diesel generators. The works were carried out for ‘MRSK Severo-Zapada’ PJSC (‘Rosseti) away from civilization, in the city of Menzen, a place difficult to reach even by transport. The two G-72M diesel gensets were demounted (34 tons each!) with the following restoration of a wall section of the diesel genset building. The G-72M diesel gensets decommissioning activities included oil and fluid discharge, turning off exhaust and fuel systems, disconnecting cables. Then the diesel gensets were dismantled element by element, unloaded and disposed. Demounting and loading the frame (weight – 6-7 tons), the assembly (5 tons), the bent shaft (3,8 tons) required demolishing a part of the brick wall with window openings. According to the project of the construction organization, the following works were done:
Following the foundation preparation (see drawing in the tab below), the new 1 MW diesel gensets were loaded in the premises using special carts making it possible to move heavy, bulky few-tons cargos over the floor. The following items were assembled:
As a part of pre-commissioning activities, following the individual tests program using the electrical laboratory, we tested the synchronous generator and power cable, measured the grounding device resistance, checked relay protection and automatic equipment, the presence of an electrical circuit between the grounded units and grounded genset elements, the response of automatic switch breakers, L-N loop resistance by direct measuring of electric equipment body single-phase short circuit current. The project technical complexities can be seen in the photo gallery below and in the tab with drawings. |
